The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Sidon and the South issued the following statement:
After numerous and repeated complaints from traders, industrialists and farmers, the Chamber calls on the competent official authorities, particularly the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities and the Ministry of Environment, to act swiftly and inspect the solid municipal waste treatment plant located in the Siniq area of Sidon.
The circulated information confirms that the plant is not complying with the terms of its contract, causing daily severe damage to the economic establishments in the area, in addition to air pollution and the constant emission of foul odors. This also poses an environmental threat and health risks to citizens, workers, and productive sectors.
