Summary

Mohammad Saleh praised Lebanese workers on Labor Day, especially those in the South affected by Israeli aggression. He urged swift reconstruction and fair worker compensation.

Description

On the occasion of Labor Day, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Sidon and the South, Mr. Mohammad Hassan Saleh, issued a statement in which he extended his congratulations to all female and male workers across various productive sectors in Lebanon in general, and in Sidon and the South in particular.

He pointed out that this year’s Labor Day comes at an exceptional moment, as Lebanon, its workers, and its productive sectors—especially in the South—have made great sacrifices in lives, with many martyrs and wounded. The Israeli aggressive war has destroyed dozens of industrial and economic facilities and burned vast agricultural areas in the South and Nabatieh governorates, particularly along the border villages with occupied Palestine, from Naqoura to the highlands of the Arqoub region.

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Sidon and the South—its President and members—extend, on this occasion filled with generosity and giving, a salute of reverence and pride to the souls of all martyrs, especially workers and business owners who lost their lives as a result of this recent aggressive war that targeted Lebanon and its dear South.

They also seize this opportunity to renew their demand to the government and relevant official authorities to expedite the preparation of a reconstruction plan and to compensate the damaged and destroyed economic, agricultural, and industrial facilities. Moreover, there is a pressing need to ensure justice for workers and adjust their wages in line with the financial and economic challenges Lebanon is going through.

Saleh concluded the congratulatory statement by saying:
"Labor Day is an occasion to renew our commitment to solidarity and mutual support among all components of the economic community, and to emphasize the importance of active partnership between workers and employers for a more prosperous and just future."

Happy Labor Day to all Lebanese workers.
